Get Software
- Most e-Forms are in the form of Adobe PDF files that require Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to be viewed. Go to Adobe's website to download Acrobat Reader. It is available for several desktop platforms at no cost. Please note that if you wish to digitally sign documents, then Adobe Acrobat Reader Version 7.0.9 or Adobe Acrobat Reader 8 is required. We recommend that you install Adobe Acrobat Reader version 8.
- If you wish to digitally sign documents, then a Digital ID and an Entrust desktop software agent will be required. Please see the Digital Signatures FAQ and the Digital ID and Entrust installation guide for more information about obtaining, installing, and using these items.
- Adobe Acrobat Professional Version 8 or Adobe LiveCycle Designer may be used to develop electronic forms. Adobe Acrobat Professional Version 8 contains both a document viewer and document Designer. It is often less costly than the LiveCycle Designer product. Adobe LiveCycle Designer is a form designer product, with tools functionally equivalent to the designer tools in Adobe Acrobat Professional. Livecycle Designer may be purchased with product support that provides consulting and problem support as well as product updates as they become available. With Adobe Acrobat Professional, major product updates require re-purchasing the product or upgrading to the newer version.
- SIU has entered into an Open Options Contract License Program (CLP) Volume Licensing program for Adobe products. Adobe software products may be obtained from TRC, Inc., the Adobe Authorized Education Reseller for SIU.
- SIU faculty and staff may obtain quotes and place orders on-line by accessing http://www.shoptrc.com/esite/siu.
- SIU students may purchase selected Adobe products for personal use directly from TRC, Inc. at substantial savings by accessing http://www.shoptrc.com/esite/adobe/savings. Ordering can be made by credit card or check.
