Digital ID and Entrust Entelligence Security Provider (EESP) 8.0
Installation and Configuration Instructions
- Request a Digital ID from the State of Illinois CMS website at http://www.illinois.gov/pki
- Select “Get a Digital ID” from the “Section Links” on the right-hand side of the page.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. You must have an Illinois Drivers License to complete the automated Digital ID creation process.
- When the process is completed a Digital ID will be created and stored on a remote server. You will not receive a copy of your Digital ID.
- Uninstall any existing Entrust products and associated plug-ins by using the Windows add/remove program functions. Restart your computer.
- Uninstall any previous Adobe Reader versions (prior to version 8) using the Windows add/remove program functions. Restart your computer.
- Download and install Adobe Reader 8 from http://www.adobe.com.
- Download EESP 8.0 from https://ftp.siu.edu/eforms/SIUC_EESP.zip. This download will require a valid SIUC Network ID.
- Make sure to uncompress the zip file before attempting to install EESP.
- Install EESP 8.0
- Start the install by double clicking the “setup.bat” file. Do not execute the “eespwin.msi” file, or EESP will not install correctly. Click next to continue.


- Accept the license agreement and click next to continue.


- Enter your user information and click next to continue.


- Select the default destination location, click next to continue.


- Choose the typical install option and click next to continue.


- Click next to begin the installation.


- When the installation completes, click finish.


- Right click the EESP icon in the system tray and select Log In.


- Enter the user name and password you selected when you applied for your State of Illinois PKI certificate.


- You may be prompted with an “Entrust Digital ID Update Request”. If this happens, click update.




- You now need to configure Adobe Reader 8 to utilize your Digital ID.
- Open Adobe Reader 8 and click Edit and select Preferences.


- Select Security in the left hand field, and click the Advanced Preferences button.


- Click the Windows Integration tab and place select the first two options and click ok when finished.


- Now close Adobe Acrobat reader, and you are now ready to start signing documents with your Digital ID.

- Next please check for any patches or updates that are recommended for Windows or ESSP by referencing our patches page. Remember that after installing ESSP and applying any necessary patches,
you will need to restart your computer.
